Two years ago I felt love had abandoned me. How dramatic does that sound? Truth is, it was. Life without love is gray. It’s not blue and it’s far from being electric. At that time I questioned myself a lot in an attempt to understand why I didn’t deserve love. My questioning was then united to someone else’s. My much loved colleague Antonio Blanco also felt the need to ask himself what love actually is. It’s been a long journey since that morning 2010 in which we sat down in a cafe in Soho for a few hours to discuss what we would like to talk about. And we decided to talk about love. For me, that was a very difficult decision to make. I was actually about to face a big monster. Believe me, love didn’t look beautiful at that time. It looked like a very ugly thing. Time heals, or at least tries to heal. ‘Where the Nights are Blue and Electric’ went through a long series of transformations. We went through difficult times, doors closed in front of us, but others opened. We are now arriving to our first final draft of the show. My search for understanding love still continues. I still look at it with a suspicious look but I now try to find my courage to face it. Thanks to art, thanks to friends and thanks to life itself.

Join Energinmotion on their journey to define what love is – an evening of physical theatre, cabaret, Latin American music, tequila and more…
In El Paraiso Bar, a place in the middle of the Mexican desert where the nights are blue and electric, a man and a woman perform a cabaret show for the local (and very small) population. Away from the stage the woman dreams about a man she has never met, and the man hides his loneliness from the world. One day a stranger comes in and brings with him the possibility of changing their lives. Idealised love, jealousy and desire, are just a few of the themes in this show that searches for an answer to the question: how can we define love?
